Chautauqua Festival The Chautauqua Assembly, which has endured over 100 years, is a center for cultural and performing arts and secular and non-secular educational programming. In the early 1900's, cultural and entertainment caravans traveled across the country, setting up tent performances in small towns and communities. Wytheville, Virginia, is a reported stop on this circuit. Since 1985, Wytheville has revived the historical Chautauqua spirit with a week-long opportunity each summer to pause and enjoy some of life's richest pleasures. Part of the proceeds from this edition of 1,200 prints and 25 artist's proofs is being donated to the Wythe County Arts Council.
