This poster features Berkeley Plantation in Charles City County, VA where a group of English settlers arrived on December 4, 1619. This date was to be observed yearly as a "day of thanksgiving" to God. On that first day, Captain John Woodleaf held the service of thanksgiving. Captain Woodleaf is shown on the left in the poster and on the right, dressed in white, is Mr. Malcolm Jamison the owner of Berkeley Plantation in 1992.
