Exchange Place Revisited Typical of any pioneer homestead of the mid-1800's in Kingsport, Tennessee, Exchange Place functioned as a family farm, but it also has a unique history. When the stagecoach ran three times a week carrying mail, freight and passengers, it stopped in this location so Virginia currency could be exchanged for that of Tennessee and road-weary horses could be exchanged for fresh ones to pull the coach. Currently the farm is owned by the city of Kingsport and is used for farm festivals, blacksmithing and storytelling.
