The Grain Mill depicts Graue Mill, the only operating waterwheel grist mill in Illinois. In 1852, Fred Graue turned the wheel and opened the sluice gates for the first time. The Graue family ran the mill for the next 60 years. The cellar of the mill is one of three authentic underground railway stations in Illinois where runaway slaves found haven.
