Winter at Meems Bottom Bridge Franklin Wissler built this bridge between Mt. Jackson and Luray, Virginia, in 1892 to provide access to his apple orchards at Strathmore Farms. This 200-foot single-span, Burr Truss-design bridge is the longest remaining covered bridge in the state. Damage by arsonists in 1976 closed the bridge. Restoration efforts allowed it to reopen again in 1997. Pat's previous piece featuring Meems Bottom Bridge is titled Morning at Meems Bottom Bridge.
