In the mid 1950ís, what would become the mainstay of American continental air defense for nearly 30 years first took flight. The plane is on display at the USAF Museum (also shown in the print) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. The museum was planned in 1922 and now cares for over 42,000 objects which tell the USAF story from 1907-1997.
