The Dairy Man features the Yoder Dairy barn and silos which have been local landmarks of Newport News, Virginia, for decades. Recently, the dairy farm's acreage was rezoned for commercial use, and the barn and other farm landmarks were moved to a nearby plot in 1995. The barn was was converted to a performing arts space by the Yoder Preservation Trust, which was run by the Yoder family. It hosted numerous theatrical, comedy, musical, and other events, and in a ceremony held on March 15, 2007, the keys to the barn were given to the president of Christopher Newport University, symbolizing the gifting of the barn from the Yoder family to the university, which now uses the facility as part of their theater and performing arts program.
